What Ichava stands for

Open source at the core: ichava/core and the Tabler, flag and emoji packs are MIT licensed. Every icon keeps its author's licence, credited in full.
Headless first: The engine has no HTTP surface. The Blade component, the ichava() helper and the Artisan commands work without a single route.
Safe SVG by default: Every icon passes an allow-list sanitiser before it renders, and its ids are namespaced so two icons on one page never collide.
Works on your database: Search and seeding are tested on SQLite, PostgreSQL, MySQL and MariaDB in CI, not just on the one we develop on.
Private by design: This site runs no analytics or tracking and loads no third-party scripts. Your preferences stay in your browser.
Made for everyone: Seven languages, right to left included, keyboard-first, and checked with axe for accessibility.

Why Ichava exists

Finding the right SVG is hard, and serving thousands of them safely is harder. Most apps end up with files copied in by hand from several sets, each with its own sizing quirks, unsafe markup and licence. Ichava does not make icons; it is the software around them. It loads bundled SVG sets as packages, sanitises every file, makes them searchable and browsable, and serves them securely, from one SVG to over a million.

Where it is going

Today Ichava ships for Laravel: render any SVG with <x-ichava::icon> or ichava(), animate it with the JavaScript motion engine, and reach it from any front end through the icon browser's REST API. Packages for frameworks beyond Laravel are planned, behind the same API.

The engine reads each set's own files, normalises their sizing, sanitises them and caches the result, so an icon from Tabler and one from the emoji set sit side by side at the same size. See the changelog for what has shipped recently.
